Miami Jai-alai was recognized as one of the most prestigious names in the world of Jai-alai. Since its opening in 1924, it had been at the forefront of the sport, offering nearly a century of high-speed, adrenaline-filled competition. Over the decades, it hosted legendary pelotaris from around the globe, cementing its reputation as a premier venue for both professional players and enthusiastic spectators.

Located at 3500 N.W. 37th Avenue, Miami, Florida, the fronton was just 10 minutes from Miami International Airport, making it easily accessible for local fans and international visitors alike. The facility had a seating capacity of 6,500, providing ample space for crowds to witness some of the fastest ball games in the world.

Miami Jai-alai's court measured:

  • Overhead: 40 feet
  • Length: 176 feet
  • Width: 45 feet

The fronton was owned and operated by the Florida Gaming Corporation, the largest Jai-alai operator in the world. Miami Jai-alai showcased the skills of legendary players such as Rekalde, Irastorza, Lopetegui, Elgueta, Mendieta, Ander, Mouhica, and Jabi, who thrilled audiences with unmatched speed, agility, and precision.

A highlight of its calendar was the Florida Cup, an annual team tournament between Miami Jai-alai and nearby Dania Jai-alai. Two-man teams from each fronton competed, with combined scores determining the winner, creating intense rivalry and memorable matches every year.

Beyond the court, Miami Jai-alai offered banquet and meeting facilities that accommodated 25 to 1,000 guests, along with a courtview dining area for 450 people, making it a sought-after venue for corporate events and social gatherings.

Despite its historic significance and global renown, Miami Jai-alai fronton eventually closed its doors in 2021. Changing entertainment trends, economic pressures, and declining attendance contributed to the end of operations, marking the conclusion of an era for one of Florida's most iconic sporting landmarks.
